Some Differences in Public and Private Job Admissions

Public servants and private companies are very different. Each has advantages and disadvantages. You need to consider where you should work towards a better life. These are some of the differences in job acceptance in the two places.

  1. Conditions

The first difference between the terms of acceptance of civil servants and private employees is the requirements. Generally, civil servants require a linear education for applicants. However, in hiring private employees, educational background is not so much a consideration.

Private companies usually look more at the skills and expertise of employees. However, it will be more considered if you have the same educational background and skills. This means that in admission civil servants, the administrative requirements are more stringent.

  1. Selection Process

Although not significant, the selection process for private employees and civil servants is also different. Civil servants have a very structured and uniform selection process. Meanwhile, private employees are not as strict as the admission of civil servants.

Civil servants generally have three stages of selection, the first is the administrative selection, the second is the academic ability selection and the third is the interview selection.

The salaries for public and private employees are also different. The salary setting for civil servants is determined by the state and the amount is relatively the same. Meanwhile, private companies have their own salary standards according to company policy.

The more prestigious a company, usually the greater the salary offered. However, both public and private employees have career paths that each employee can pursue. This means that the higher the career path in the job you are involved in, the greater the salary you will get.

Some working employees expect a pension. This fund is expected to be able to help the needs in old age. Pension funds are generally given to people who are members of the civil service.

Therefore, it is the state that guarantees these funds through people’s taxes. However, for private employees there is also a kind of old-age security fund although not all companies offer it.

  1. Working Hours

Another difference between civil servants and private employees is in terms of working hours. Working hours for civil servants are fixed from morning to evening. Meanwhile, private employees are usually more flexible in accordance with company policies.

There are private companies that enforce a shift work system so that there are employees who come in from day to night. Another thing that stands out in private companies is that there is usually a special salary for employees whose working hours exceed the normal day time limit.
